The Harrisburg Area Yarn Crawl was dreamed up by Kayla at The Underground Yarn and Books in Hershey and organized by the Local Yarn Shops in the Harrisburg area. This will be our first yarn crawl so SAVE THE DATE!
Registration is open for this event taking place June 11-14, 2026 across 9 shops. A yarn crawl is an organized event giving fiber craft enthusiasts the opportunity to visit the local yarn shops in the area. We are so very excited to launch this yarn crawl and hope to make it an annual tradition for the Greater Harrisburg community. By supporting the Harrisburg Area Yarn Crawl, you are supporting 9 small businesses!
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Anyone! If you’re interested in learning more about the many wonderful, creative, and diverse local yarn shops and fiber craft community in Greater Harrisburg area this is the event for you. We ask that folks participating in the crawl agree to contribute to a positive, safe, and inclusive event - this includes customers, shop owners/staff, and vendors - in the interest of upholding the collective wellbeing of the community. If you are a new local yarn shop in the Greater Harrisburg area please don’t hesitate to reach out about participating in the next crawl!
HOW IT WORKS
Once you’re registered for the yarn crawl and join our email list, you can expect to hear from the crawl team leading up to the event with shop highlights, important information and updates, and more! You can pick up your printed materials at the shop you selected for Local Pick-up during the crawl. Once the crawl begins, you can visit as many shops as you’d like and have your passport stamped at each spot along the way.
GIVEAWAY PRIZES
For folks that visit all 9 shops, there will be a prized and keepsake of some kind. There will be instructions on your printed passport with a tearaway portion to provide your contact information to the last shop you visit. You do not need to submit your physical passport booklet at the end of the crawl (it’s yours to keep and remember the fun times you had yarn-crawling) just follow the instructions on the printed passport for submission.
Some of the participating shops will have their own shop-specific giveaway that every crawl visitor can enter at the shop (no purchase necessary; just a passport)! More information coming soon.
Some shops may have other giveaways, pop-ups, special yarns, and kits for this event. Please check shop-specific websites and social media for details about these special products and events.
